ABOUT THIS IMAGE

George ‘Father’ Bailey came to Norfolk Island in the years following the arrival of the Pitcairners. He brought the Bailey name to the island and worked as a blacksmith at the time of the Melanesian Mission. Bailey’s Blacksmiths is remarkably well preserved at the Pitcairn Settlers Village having had relatively little modification overall, and is complete with a dual-bellowed forge that is still fully operational.
Together with some more modern memorabilia on display, this museum tour is a fascinating insight into Pitairn-era Norfolk and the years leading up to present day.
