The Forth Rail Bridge is a magnificent cantilever railway bridge that connects South Queensferry with Inverkeithing, Scotland. Long exposure shot taken after sunset in 2012. The Forth Rail Bridge was completed in 1890 and at the time had the longest cantilever span in the world. The bridge is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and services as many as 200 train crossings a day. 5000 men constructed the Forth Rail Bridge over a 7 years period. The bridge spans 1 1/2 miles using 55000 tons of steel, and 6 1/2 million rivets. The bridge opened in 1890 and remains a marvel of modern engineering and remains one of the most beautiful steel structures in the world.
